The project focuses on a hybrid "sculpture" that takes shape along the boundaries of the medial and sonic realms. The starting point for this experiment is the biological fact that, for a certain period after death, the body retains its water content, thereby functioning as a conductive surface. This phase is a liminal state in which the body has already lost its former social and biological roles, transforming into a conductive surface between the living and the lifeless. Building on this physiological condition, I have constructed a post-mortem sonification system that utilizes the body’s conductivity to generate sound. The aim of the concept is to transform the final, invisible vibrations after death into sound, a sort of technologically recorded “last breath.”
A hang nemcsak hallható jelenségként, hanem érintésből kiváltott eseményként realizálódik. A néző megszűnik külső, passzív szemlélő lenni, a fizikai kontaktus révén maga is belép a rendszerbe.
Since the Age of Enlightenment, the connection between electricity and the flesh has been inextricably linked to a rethinking of the boundaries between life and death, the artificial reactivation of the body, and the resulting reverberations. Sound is realized not only as an audible phenomenon but also as an event triggered by touch. The viewer ceases to be an external, passive observer; through physical contact, they themselves enter the system. It is this ontological connection that makes the work simultaneously a sculptural, performative, and interactive ritual.
A hangot Max és Ableton segítségével generáltam és ezeken keresztül vált transzformálhatóvá.
I generated the sound using Max and Ableton and it can be transformed through these tools.
