interdisciplinary research project

Operating at the intersection of multiple media—taking the form of an installation, a performance, and a web archive—the work investigates urban light pollution, hyperreality, and the resulting disruption of biological rhythms. At the core of the project is a web archive built around a fictional researcher persona. Initially, the viewer is presented with a coherent, seemingly scientifically grounded account of the harmful effects of light on the body. However, as one delves deeper into the archive, the researcher’s internal monologues and methods become increasingly subjective and contradictory.
A kutatás több fejezetre bontható.

The research is made up of several chapters. In the early stages, we see a consistent hypothesis and research methodology, but as the “researcher” goes deeper, his logical approach and sense of reality increasingly disappear.
He himself becomes a victim of his own research, caught in a crisis of hyperreality and overexposure.
The archive becomes proof of his own madness.

A projekt egy archívum formájában manifesztálódik, azonban tárgyi bizonyítékok is keletkeznek. A kutató naplót vezet, térképet gyárt, mintavátelezik a város különböző helyeiről és egy gombakísérleten keresztül igyekszik bizonyítani hipotézisét. A munka emelett több médiumot alkalmaz, videók, polaroidok, valós spektroradiométeres mérések, hőkamerás felvételek, mikrobiális minták és élő organizmusok válnak a bizonyatás eszközeivé.
The project takes the form of an archive, though physical evidence is also generated. The researcher keeps a journal, creates maps, collects samples from various locations in the city, and attempts to prove his hypothesis through a mushroom experiment. In addition, the work employs multiple media: videos, polaroids, spectroradiometer measurements, heat camera recordings, microbial samples, and living organisms all become tools for verification.

The researcher took real-time light measurements using a spectroradiometer, which analyzes the light spectrum and provides physical parameters that indicate the characteristics of the light.
The researcher also collects samples.
As part of the project, the researcher is also testing a mushroom experiment. To induce morphological changes in the mushroom, the researcher is using a “blue light therapy”—that is, growing it under supplemental lighting for a specified period of time.
The researcher documented the project throughout its duration.
A projekt célja az archívum mellett a tudománykommunikáció elősegítése, és egyben a kutatás mechanizmusának kritikája egy immerzív élmény kialakításán keresztül. A kiállítótér a fiktív kutató belső világát reprezentálja, amelyben a gépen látható információk mellett a tárgyi bizonyítékok is a megőrülése lenyomatává válnak.
In addition to building an archive, the project aims to encourage science communication and, at the same time, to critique the mechanisms of research through the an immersive experience.
The exhibition space represents the inner world of the fictional researcher, in which, alongside the information displayed on the computer, the physical evidence also becomes a reflection of his descent into madness.

A térben megjelenő lámpa a látogatóra reagálva lép működésbe. A látogató ezáltal maga is a morfózis folyamatának résztvevőjévé válik. Emellett fény-, pára-, és hőmérsékletmérő valódi visszajelzést adnak a tér állapotáról.
The lamp in the space activates in response to the visitor. In this way, the visitor becomes a participant in the process of morphosis. In addition, light, humidity, and temperature sensors provide real-time feedback on the state of the space.
